MagicSchoolyard A magical school, friends and duels

MagicSchoolyard

News from the Academy

Small and big steps toward a livelier magical school.

This is where we collect changes that are actually online. No guesswork, just a little academy magic.

Explore long-term plans
  1. Character studio

Your characters get their moment in the spotlight

The studio backdrop can clock out: your characters now have their own portrait cards with illustrated Academy scenery on the dashboard. After you save, the matching panel is prepared in the background, so give it a moment. Your original image stays untouched. A new home for the portrait, not a secret character swap. ✨

  2. Usability

    Less website. More Academy.

The dashboard now uses a fixed game view with an icon menu, direct location tiles, and your characters front and centre. Account settings and messages stay within reach without a chunky menu bar blocking the view. Your three characters sit side by side instead of spilling into a second, nearly empty view. More castle, less paperwork corridor. 🎮

  3. Usability

An Academy entrance, not a form desert

The homepage, login, and registration now share the magical Academy look. The public entrance and the game after login remain separate. You still get through the door securely; it finally looks like the entrance to a magic school. 🏰

  4. Usability

    Your language choice stays yours

After you log in, the homepage now respects your saved language choice too. Saving your profile language again replaces an older, different interface setting. When joining the Academy, you can check the suggested language and country yourself.

  5. Game world

    A glimpse of the future

Our news page now has a dedicated section for long-term plans and ideas. See where the Academy is heading, clearly separated from features that are already online.

  6. Game world

    More personality in short replies

Short replies now draw on more of the school character’s personality and current mood. Each playable character keeps their own relationship – familiarity with one character does not carry over to another.

  7. Game world

    School characters respond more personally

During suitable encounters in the classroom and schoolyard, school characters can now respond briefly in their own words. Some successful forest missions completed together may bring a reply too. Your game keeps moving even when no reply is available.

  8. Community

    Bring your Discord along

You can optionally link Discord to your existing MagicSchoolyard account. It is not required and does not create a second game account.

  9. Usability

More of the Academy in English

Many menus and controls are now available in English too. Choose your language in account settings; some game and story text is still on the way.

  10. Usability

Your Academy feels more like yours

After logging in, it is easier to find your characters, friends, invitations, and next step in the game. Account and security settings are still there, just no longer in the middle of your adventure.

  11. Character studio

Less waiting in the character studio

Image previews use shorter steps. When you move sliders several times in quick succession, your latest choice counts instead of every in-between setting. Your look, seed, and sliders remain yours to control.

Where the Academy is heading

These are our long-term goals. “Planned” marks areas we intend to expand; “Idea” marks possibilities still being considered. Neither is fully playable yet, and there are no fixed release dates.

  • Planned

A little chat with your own characters

We want to add simple conversations with your own characters. Have a little chat, get to know their personality, and perhaps coax out a small tip about Academy life. Not an all-knowing walkthrough in a wizard hat, more your own conversation partner. This character chat is not available yet.

  • Planned

A game interface, not an office dashboard

The new dashboard is just the start: more game areas should gradually gain a compact, consistent interface. Prominent characters, clear icons, and fixed places for important information instead of banner Tetris. The goal: less menu hunting, more magic school. The full redesign is still ahead.

  • Planned

    A school that remembers

Shared experiences should shape later encounters more deeply: who trusts you, who feels let down, and what brings you together grows with your story.

  • Planned

    Friends, rivals, and cliques

Characters who actually witness an encounter should be able to react. This makes room for individual friendships and rivalries, rather than identical reactions from everyone.

  • Idea

    Whispers with consequences

Rumours could travel through small social circles. Not everyone believes the same thing; trust and the source should matter more than the loudest voice.

  • Planned

    Adventures together

Forest missions and other adventures should offer more teamwork, different strengths, and choices shared with school characters you know.

  • Idea

    More life between lessons

Small encounters, group activities, and school celebrations could brighten everyday life. Your connections should feel alive beyond individual interactions.

  • Idea

    Magic through the seasons

Winter magic, Halloween, and Christmas celebrations could give the Academy a fresh look, with a matching atmosphere and small seasonal experiences.
